Tokyo, October 2021 - Vacheron Constantin dedicated a Japan special edition of Traditionnelle tourbillon Born of an intimate dialogue between aesthetic refinement and mechanical sophistication, the Traditionnelle collection is distinguished by a rich palette of watchmaking complications, highlighted here by the self-winding tourbillon and ultra-thin calibre 2160. A technical repertoire highlighted by eminently horological aesthetic codes, and timepieces honouring Geneva’s Haute Horlogerie traditions inherited from the 18th century. These two numbered 6-piece limited editions Traditionnelle tourbillon, each featuring specific hand-guilloché paterns on their dials will be available exclusively at THE HOUR GLASS JAPAN.

Horological expertise, inimitable chic, and refined style. The Traditionnelle tourbillon - Japan Special edition, features all the attributes of their proud lineage. Endowed with slender bezel, railway-type minute track, Dauphine-type hands, they are driven by self-winding in-house movements revealed through the backs of their platinum case.

Traditionnelle tourbillon - Japan edition
These two classically elegant Traditionnelle tourbillon versions housed in 41mm-platinum case are powered by a self-winding movement developed by Vacheron Constantin. In addition to the refinement of its openworked carriage shaped like a Maltese cross, the emblem of the Manufacture, Caliber 2160 is distinguished by its incredible slimness: this ultra-thin 188-part movement endowed with an approximately 80-hour power reserve measures just 5.65 mm thick. Its relatively sedate frequency (2.5 Hz), along with its 22K gold peripheral oscillating weight, provides a chance to admire the steady beating of its mechanism and the exceptional level of traditional finishing visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. The white gold hours and minutes hands, are slightly offset towards the upper section of the dial, so as to provide more space for the tourbillon carriage appearing in the lower half. The 6 o’clock opening provides a chance to admire the stately dance of the tourbillon, which is all the more entrancing in that the caliber beats at a low frequency. Vacheron Constantin tourbillon cages unveil fine inner angles (proof of hand craftsmanship) and carry no less than 10 hours of hand beveling & hand chamfering. These new Traditionnelle tourbillon timepieces display the hours and minutes, while the small seconds appear at 6 o’clock on the tourbillon, framed by a gold dial graced with gold hour-markers and bi-facetted Dauphine-type hands.

Two hand-guilloché patterns created for these editions
Striking the perfect chord between technical and aesthetic considerations, the Traditionnelle tourbillon highlight the expertise of the Manufacture in crafting exceptional timepieces. The greyish blue dials housed in platinum cases are set with two hand-guilloché patterns exclusively created for Japan. These patterns reflect the inventiveness of the Maison and its mastery of guilloché work – a delicate traditional skill applied to watchmaking from the 18th century onwards.
Perfectly illustrating the creative spirit of Vacheron Constantin, this special edition has been preciously embellished by the gifted artist’s hands of artisans. On the dials swept over by white gold hands, the guilloché artist has created delicate patterns.
